Haughey's site may never get the volume of submissions that other user-created databases do, since it takes work to scan a stub properly, upload it and write a coherent mini-essay. Although tickets from rock concerts and sports events dominate (along with the requisite dating anecdotes), there is also a jury-service stub, a ticket from a Madrid monastery tour and a World Trade Center observatory pass. So far, several dozen people have contributed. The site allows people to upload images of a stub and tell the story behind it. Matthew Haughey, a Web designer in San Francisco, was inspired to start Ticketstubs when he came across a parking stub from the day he proposed to his wife and was surprised to find how it ''elicited fond memories and could be just as much of a reminder of the proposal as the diamond ring,'' he said by e-mail. The site points out that most of us have saved a few stubs for one reason or another. But at a new site called Ticketstubs (), memories are being collected, not memorabilia. Search for ''ticket stub'' at eBay and you will find more than 700 auctions aimed at collectors (is there really someone willing to buy a New Kids on the Block concert stub?). ![]()
